VPN Access Provided by ADE

The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), through the Arkansas Public School Computer Network (APSCN) and the Department of Information Services (DIS), has set-up an APSCN VPN server to provide Virtual Private Network (VPN) access to all public school districts, education service cooperatives, and public charter schools. This will result in a significant cost savings to school districts currently providing access for their employees.

All users should NOT download reports that contain sensitive data (student or employee names, addresses, social security numbers, etc.) to their home or public computers.

VPN extends private network across public networks like the Internet.  It enables a host computer to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if they were an integral part of the private network with all the functionality, security and management policies of the private network.  This allows users to access the state hosted systems from a home or other computer and perform tasks that previously had to be performed at the district or school site.

The instructions for an individual to set up a VPN connection on a Windows, Chrome, and MAC Operating Systems are attached below.
