Upper Elementary Para-Professional

POSITION SUMMARY

Perform duties that are instructional in nature or deliver direct services to identified students. Serve in a position for which a teacher has ultimate responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs and services. 

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts.
  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
  • Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers.
  • Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help those master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
  • Observe students' performance, and record relevant data to assess progress.
  • Supervise and assist students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, schoolyard, and gymnasiums/safe rooms, or on field trips.
  • Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Assist with student transportation (bus loading and unloading, car loading and unloading), and walkers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:          High School Graduate; Required

                             Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school): Preferred

A passing score on the Paraprofessional Proficiency Assessment will substitute for the Associate Degree
